Life is so much more than milestones. Most funeral homes will ask you to fill out a form with some basic information about school, marriage, retirement, etc. But you have more to say about this person you loved. Let’s dig beneath the timeline of their life. Let’s talk about the sound of their laugh and that weird habit that drove you kind of nuts, but now you miss it terribly.
They had stories to tell—stories to remember. They had an essence that is so difficult to capture with words. You know it in your heart—and I can help.

First steps: We’ll set up a 45-60 minute phone call to go over the details of your loved one’s life. Prior to our call, I’ll send you a list of questions to think about and prepare for as much as you’d like. (This is not meant to be more work! It just helps you to start thinking about what you’d like to say.)

Eulogies
What will you say and how will you say it? These are big questions when it comes to eulogizing someone you love.
A eulogy can be whatever makes sense for the person you’re eulogizing. Maybe it’s one great story that illuminates something about them, an overview of all the most memorable events of their life, or a themed exploration of something more specific. It’s up to you! But that can be overwhelming.
I help narrow down all the things you want to say. We’ll identify what, why, and how you want to say it.
It’s their story. It’s your voice. I just help you write it down in a way you’ll feel good about.

Length: 5-7 minutes when spoken
First steps: We’ll start with a 30 to 60-minute conversation. I find these vary in length and complexity more than obituaries, hence the extra time and rate.

Where do you publish an obituary?
Most people choose to publish obituaries in local papers. If you are looking for more space for a longer obituary, I recommend Elegy, a thoughtful, simple, and beautiful website that offers unlimited words and photos for just $75. If you’d like help with placement, I offer all inclusive placement for $100, which includes the $75 site fee. I’ll do all the work of uploading and formatting the obituary. And you’ll have one less thing to think about.
